Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Gardens Gone Wild!!!

Spring is finally here & all my trees are starting to sprout. The Japanese maples are looking gorgeous.
The past two weekends Craig & I have been planting new color & texture in the front & back yards. So far we've put in 2 new knockout rose bushes, 3 alpinia, tons of hosta, various azaleas, lilies, snapdragons, impatiens, geraniums, begonias, & petunias. I also planted 100 caladium bulbs. It's really looking good. In a few weeks everything should be filled in nicely.

Now I'm ready to work on some potted plants for the deck. My friend Chloe gave me some datura seed today & can't wait to get some seedlings started. I'll have to be careful with them because they are highly hallucinogenic & toxic. The last thing I need is my dogs on some fucked up Timothy Leary trip!

Monday, July 09, 2007 Renovate & Rejuvinate....

I've been remodeling my upstairs room since Independence Day. It's technically a guest bedroom, but we use it as a media room to watch movies on a projector screen. It's really looking great, but I am worn out now. The project has been ongoing for days now. Craig & I moved everything downstairs & ripped out the nasty carpet from the previous owners. EWWWW!!! We then painted the ceiling, walls, & doors. Over the weekend, we installed a new laminate wood floor, which looks fucking fantastic!!! And it saved us a ton of cash by us installing it ourselves. It's a good thing I bought those kneepads this time, plus they may come in handy in other situations.... I've replaced all the hardware & lighting, except for the new ceiling fan, which I'll be installing today after work. I also got a Bjursta cabinet from Ikea to store all my media components. The sofa & loveseat should be delivered weekend after next.

The room is pretty much ready to have everything moved back in, so now I'm ready for a break. And just in time for that is the upcoming Friday the 13th weekend!!!! Craig & I rented a cottage at Caddo Lake. We always have so much fun there exploring the sloughs & bayous of the swamp. YAY!!!!

Friday, March 02, 2007 Metaphysical Weirdness

The past 2 days have been a bit odd in my neighborhood. Night before last, I was outside talking to a neighbor when a girl from another street came up to us in a panic. She had lost her cat & was frantically searching for it. I decided to help her out & walked the neighborhood for about an hour calling out for this missing kitty. Then I met the girl's mom. She was just as worried. I told her that I know how she feels, having lost a cat last year. She then proceeded to tell me that she had just called some friends who have a link to the "psychic realm" and that they are envisioning the cat outside, but very near the house. At this point I figure that they don't need my help any longer since apparently Dionne Warwick & Miss Cleo are on the case. I went back into the safety of my house to tell Craig about the psychic realm incident.
Then the next day, I have landscaping contractors working in the yard. Craig's mom had forwarned me about the oddness of one of the contractors. So I finally meet him & he's even weirder than I was told. He rambles & mumbles incoherently while talking to you & also when he's alone. As he is explaining the work he is doing he tells me that he is envisioning the yard project through his "third eye." He repeated this about 4 or 5 times & then began to ramble incoherently again. Once again I just went back into the safety of my house.
Now I'm just waiting to see what other metaphysical weirdness is lurking around the corner.
